Cattle and Buffalo — Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has some of the largest cattle stations in the world, and NLIS compliance is especially critical given the scale of movements in the region. In the NT, all cattle and buffalo must have an approved NLIS device attached to their right ear before being moved off a property — regardless of the destination.

An appropriate NT order form must be completed and provided with every tag order. Contact Farm & Acre Co and we'll guide you through the NT ordering process.

NLIS device must be attached to the RIGHT ear

Applies to cattle, buffalo, and all cattle movements regardless of destination

NT order form required with every tag order

Sheep and Goats — Northern Territory

Sheep are considered a prohibited animal in parts of the NT due to the presence of bluetongue virus in the Top End. Written permission from the Chief Inspector of Livestock is required to bring sheep into the NT. Goats may be moved within the NT but an NT waybill must be completed for any off-property movement. For detailed requirements, refer to the NT Government livestock identification page.
