Quick rule snapshot (QLD) - Moving between properties with different PICs: livestock must be fitted with an approved NLIS device, and movements must be reported to the NLIS database within 48 hours of livestock arriving at the destination. - Sheep & goats (eID transition): staged rollout runs to 2027 (see dates below). - PIC: Have your PIC ready before ordering.
Sheep & goat eID rollout in Queensland (key dates) - From 1 Jan 2025: sheep and farmed goats born on/after this date must have an accredited NLIS eID before leaving their property of birth. - From 1 Jan 2027: all sheep and goats must have an accredited NLIS eID before leaving a property, regardless of age.
Sheep and goats also have a post-breeder device in the colour pink
Queensland ordering note (important) To order an approved device/tag in Queensland, you may need an “Application for Permanent NLIS Device” signed by a biosecurity inspector (verify your PIC and ordering status before you place a large order).
