NLIS Tags WA — Cattle RFID Tags & Sheep/Goat eID

Looking for NLIS tags in Western Australia? Farm & Acre Co supplies livestock identification tags and tagging equipment to WA producers, including Allflex Australia products, Leader Products Australia ranges, and FOFIA tagging equipment.

Quick rule snapshot (WA) - Cattle: If cattle need a replacement/added NLIS device, colour depends on whether the animal is on the property of birth (white) or not (orange). Cattle should only have one NLIS device, and it’s illegal to remove/replace functioning devices. - Sheep & goats (eID transition): WA has phased deadlines and reaches full operation by July 2026. - PIC: Ensure your PIC is current before ordering.

Sheep & goat eID rollout in WA (key dates) - From 1 Jan 2025: sheep/goats born on/after this date require eID before leaving their property of birth (or within 6 months of birth, whichever is earlier). - From 1 July 2025: abattoirs and saleyards are required to scan sheep/goats with eID. - From 1 July 2026: all sheep and goats must have an accredited NLIS eID before leaving a property, regardless of age (and property-to-property movement scanning/recording applies).

  • Sheep and goat eID must be the year of birth colour in Western Australia, but all other states and territories producers can use any colour that suits their farm management system.

WA cattle/buffalo guidance states the white/orange rule and that it’s illegal to remove/replace functioning NLIS devices; this is a strong authority inclusion.
WA sheep/goat eID runs to full operation by 1 July 2026 (not Jan 2027), and WA has specific scanning milestones from July 2025
