Drive Link Length
  • Tungsten carbide tips weld-fused onto every cutter, not hardened steel that rolls and dulls.
  • Holds its edge about 10x longer, so far fewer stops to sharpen.
  • Eats dirty bark, sand and abrasive timber that blunts a standard chain in minutes.
  • Australian family-run, flat $10 shipping, dispatched in 1 to 2 business days.

Can the tungsten carbide teeth be damaged?

Each tungsten carbide tip is weld-fused onto the cutter. Under normal cutting, the tungsten carbide is designed to last the life of the chain.

What damages the tungsten cutters is a blunt chain, over-forcing it into timber, or hitting steel, lead bullets, wire, rock or dirt, and that will wreck any chain.

Cut clean timber, keep the chain tensioned correctly, and keep the chain sharp. Used properly, the tungsten cutting teeth should outlast the drive links and the rest of the chain.

Why tungsten carbide?

Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest cutting-tool materials going. We braze a tungsten carbide tip onto every cutter, so the edge holds up where a standard steel chain just rolls and dulls.

What that means on the saw: fewer stops, less sharpening, more wood through the bar per session. The chain body is German steel, high quality design for Australian hardwood.

10× longer edge life, what that actually means

A standard steel chain dulls after minimal work. A tungsten carbide chain stays sharp roughly 10× longer in the same conditions.

If you used to sharpen your chain after every fuel tank, now you can run a chain that lasts 10 times longer between sharpens.

Fits your saw?

Three specs to check:

Pitch, the spacing between drive links, stamped on your bar. 3/8" and .325" pitch are the most common for farm and forestry saws.

Gauge, the thickness of the drive link. Match your bar:

  • .063" (1.6mm), suits most Stihl 3/8" setups (and .404 forestry saws).
  • .058" (1.5mm), suits most Husqvarna 3/8" setups.
  • .050" (1.3mm), low-profile chain for smaller / mid-range saws.
  • .043" (1.1mm), low-profile chain for smaller saws.

Drive link count, total number of links. Depends on bar length.

Not sure? Use our Chain Finder, pick your saw model and it returns the exact pitch, gauge, and drive link count. Or send Aaron a photo of your bar stamping on 0431 183 421.

Sharpening, what you need to know

Tungsten carbide doesn't sharpen like standard steel chain. You'll sharpen these way less often, but when you do, use a diamond sharpening disc, a regular round file won't touch the carbide tip.

Signs it's time to sharpen: cuts are slowing down, you're applying more pressure than usual, or sawdust looks fine and powdery instead of chips.

For most users, expect 1–2 sharpenings a year of regular use, vs every few sessions for a standard chain.

Common questions

How long does it last? Roughly 10× longer than standard steel chain in the same cutting conditions.

Can I sharpen it myself? Yes, but you need a diamond sharpening disc (not a regular round file).

Will it work on dirty timber? That's exactly what it's built for. Semi-chisel + carbide handles dirt, sand, and abrasive bark far better than full chisel chain.

Does it cut faster than standard chain? Standard chain is slightly faster on clean softwood. Carbide chain is faster on average in real cutting because it stays sharp, you spend the session cutting, not sharpening.

What kills it? Same things that kill any chain, dirt, rocks, fencing wire, nails in old logs, hitting steel. The chain is built for timber, not metal or stone.

Warranty & returns

Manufacturing defects: full replacement, just send a photo + order number. Reach out on 0431 183 421 or farmandacreco@gmail.com.

What's not covered: damage from hitting rocks, dirt, fencing wire, nails, or steel, that's wear-and-tear on any chain. Tungsten holds up better than standard, but it's not bulletproof against metal.

30-day returns on unused chains in original packaging.
