NLIS cattle tags (legal traceability)

The electronic (RFID) tags you need before cattle move off your place. FOFIA NLIS breeder tags come with the male button included, White for breeders and Orange for post-breeder, both fixed colours that do not change from year to year. Your PIC and numbering are handled as part of the order. From $3.00 a tag at volume.

Sheep and goat EID (the eID rollout)

The FOFIA ET969 is the electronic (NLIS) tag for sheep and goats. It comes in the year colours plus pink for bought-in stock, with custom numbering available. This is the one to look at as the national sheep and goat eID rollout phases in across the states. From $2.10 a tag at volume.

Management tags (number and draft your mob)

Visual tags with no chip, for running your mob day to day. Female management tags come in Medium, Large and Extra Large across nine colours, with male pins and ID buttons to match, plus one-piece long life maxi tags. Custom printed over one to three lines. From $0.90 a tag at volume.

One-piece visual tags built for speed and big numbers, with bulk tiered pricing that runs right up to 100,000 head, printed one or two sides. From $0.65 a tag in bulk.

Applicators, the battery E-Tagger and readers

Get tags in and data out. FOFIA covers the universal applicator for two-piece visual and management tags, a one-piece applicator, and a sheep applicator. On the reader side there are PT-series RFID readers for recording NLIS numbers, from the PT580N handheld at $330 up to the PT290 stick reader.

The battery E-Tagger is a fast, one-squeeze applicator. The cattle E-Tagger is $490 and the sheep and goat E-Tagger is $595. Free shipping on FOFIA E-Taggers, Australia-wide. One thing worth being clear on: the E-Tagger applies standard, fly, feedlot and visual tags only. It is not NLIS-approved and it does not record or store tag data. For reading NLIS numbers you want an RFID reader.

  • Moving cattle off your place? You need NLIS cattle tags. Breeder tags are White, post-breeder (bought-in) are Orange.
  • Tagging sheep or goats for eID? Look at the ET969. For 2026 the year colour is Orange (year letter X), and bought-in stock is Pink.
  • Just numbering or drafting your mob? Management tags do the job, no chip needed. The 2026 management colour is Orange.
  • Tagging big numbers in a feedlot? One-piece feedlot tags, priced for volume.
  • Need an applicator? Match it to the tag: universal for two-piece tags, one-piece applicator for one-piece tags, sheep applicator for sheep tags.

How much do FOFIA tags cost?

It depends on the tag and how many you need, and volume price breaks bring the per-tag price down as the numbers go up. As a guide, NLIS breeder cattle tags start from $3.00 a tag at volume, the ET969 sheep and goat EID tag from $2.10, management tags from $0.90 and feedlot tags from $0.65 in bulk. Can I order FOFIA tags online, or do I need a quote?

You can order the full FOFIA range online. Pick your tag, colour, quantity and custom printing, and check out, no quote needed. For bulk or custom jobs you would rather talk through, the order form handles it, or you can call us.

What colour FOFIA tag do I need for 2026?

It depends on the tag. NLIS cattle tags use fixed colours: White for breeders born on your place and Orange for post-breeder (bought-in) cattle, and those do not change from year to year. For sheep and goat NLIS tags and for visual management tags, 2026 is Orange (year letter X), and bought-in sheep and goats use Pink.

Does the FOFIA battery E-Tagger record NLIS data?

No. The battery E-Tagger is an applicator only. It applies standard, fly, feedlot and visual tags, it is not NLIS-approved, and it does not record or store tag data. If you need to record NLIS numbers, that is a job for a PT-series RFID reader, not the E-Tagger.

Can I get my PIC and numbers printed on FOFIA tags?

Yes. Most FOFIA management, feedlot and NLIS tags can be custom printed with your own numbers, PIC, name or management code, over one to three lines, and one or two sides on many tags. Choose your printing when you add the tags to your cart.

Where do FOFIA tags ship from, and how fast?

FOFIA tags are printed and dispatched from Queensland. Turnaround depends on the order size and how much custom printing is involved, and sheep VID tags run on a four week lead time.
